Basketball Superstars·Ready to start
Basketball Superstars is a court match: dribble past a defender and release a held shot. The catalog also describes creating a custom player before the match. This page does not invent a roster size beyond that description.
Movement and shooting are separate. The joystick or arrow keys move you. Holding the shot button charges the attempt. Letting go is the release. Moving does not shoot, and shooting does not dribble you forward.
It feels closer to Basketball Bros than to a flick drill, but Bros uses a second jump. Here the timing is how long you hold, and where the defender is when you let go.
You need a lane before the release. If a defender is still between you and the rim, letting go of the shot button is the miss the notes warn about.
The charge starts when you hold and ends when you release. A longer hold is not automatically a better shot. It is a different arc, taken from wherever you are standing.
Creating a player, if that step is in the build you opened, happens before the match. It does not change the hold-and-release shot once the ball is in your hands.
These are the control notes stored for this title. They are not a separate device test. If the loaded game shows a different prompt, follow the game.
Use arrow keys to move and dribble around the court. Press and hold Spacebar to shoot, release at the right moment to score. Press Spacebar near the hoop to dunk. Use Spacebar to steal the ball or block shots.
Use the on-screen joystick to move and dribble. Tap and hold the shoot button, then release at the perfect moment to score. Tap near the hoop to dunk. Tap to steal the ball or block opponent shots.
The miss is usually a release while the defender is still in the way. Hold until you have dribbled past, then let go.
Arrows and the joystick only move you. The shot is the held button. Pushing toward the rim does not take the shot.
A longer hold changes the shot. Match it to the distance you actually created, instead of holding to the maximum every time.
Move with the joystick or the arrows until the defender is no longer between you and the rim. Only then hold the shot button. Releasing while you are still dribbling into the body is the miss this match produces most often. The hold is the shot. Pushing the stick farther forward does not release it.
If a custom player step appears before tipoff, finish it and then forget it during the possession. A new appearance does not change the moment you let go. After a blocked release, put the stick neutral, dribble one way, and hold again from the new spot. Do not tap the shot button the way Basketball Bros taps a second jump.
Dribble with the stick or the arrows until you can see empty space between the defender and the rim. Hold the shot button only in that space. Count a short hold and release. If the defender jumps into the lane while you are holding, keep the button down and dribble again. Releasing into the body is the miss. A second session should change the hold length rather than the player skin. The custom player, if the game asked for one, is already done. Movement never becomes the shot. Players who double-tap Up because of Basketball Bros will jump or pass the stick and never charge this release.
This block is about the player on BasketballBros.me. It is not a compatibility certificate for Basketball Superstars.

Also an arcade match, but Basketball Bros shoots with a second jump rather than a held button.

Also a two-side match with dash and steal, using a fixed key map instead of a joystick shot.

Also a character match. The dash is a second direction tap, and steal is its own key.

Also a stylized match. You drag beans and choose pass, shot, or dunk instead of holding one button.
Hold the shot button, then release. The joystick or arrow keys move you and do not take the shot.
The shot is leaving while the defender is still in the lane. Dribble past first, then release.
No. Bros jumps twice with the Up arrow. Superstars charges a held shot and releases it.
